2015 Golf Turbo problem

I've been having some frustrating issues with my Golf's stock turbo. It's been intermittently experiencing low boost and throwing random evap codes. The weird part is that the check engine light keeps clearing itself, even though my code reader shows a permanent turbo code. I'm worried about potential engine damage and failed emissions tests.
I'm wondering if this could be an electrical or oil-related problem. I've always used good quality oil. Is it possible that a slight decrease in oil viscosity could be causing the low boost?

Also, does anyone know where I can source an OEM turbo without dealing with the local VW dealership?

If the oil is less viscous, this means it is thinner, and it can cause catastrophic failure if it breaks down. Hopefully, it hasn't.
As for sourcing an OEM turbo, try with ECS Tuning or FCP Euro. Both offer OEM and high-quality aftermarket options, often at better prices than dealerships. Be cautious of "too good to be true" deals to avoid counterfeit parts.

The GTI turbo would be an upgrade for a base Golf and need aftermarket ECU software. A thorough visual inspection of the engine bay is key—use a flashlight and mirror to check the intake plumbing and the intercooler plumbing underneath. If possible, have someone rev the engine while you inspect to help spot a boost leak.
